

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm Saturday, September 24, 2011 at Hanes-Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel, with Rev. Russ Moyer officiating. A private entombment will take place on Monday, September 26, 2011 in Guilford Memorial Park’s Mausoleum.
Born in Iredell County, to the late Miles and Douschka Vestal, Mr. Vestal was a member of Rolling Roads Baptist Church. Bill served in the United States Air Force for five years. He graduated from Harmony High School and High Point College. He enjoyed graduate studies at UNC Chapel Hill, UNCG, and NCA&T University. He taught middle school and high school for thirty years in Yadkin, Randolph, Forsyth, and Guilford counties. He had a passion for farming and spent countless hours on his farm in Iredell County. He also loved spending time with his buddies who met for daily breakfast at Hardee’s. Bill was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially spending special times with his grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Sanford, Weaver, Flake, and David.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 55 years, Ruth C. Vestal of the home; daughters, Pam Stockard and her husband Joel of Greensboro and Kim Ireland and her husband Hayden III of Summerfield; son, John Vestal and his wife Tiffany of Greensboro; sisters, Susie Ireland of Statesville and Carrie Fagg of Brown Summit; and grandchildren, Hayden Ireland IV, Colby Ireland, Laura Kate Ireland, Emory Vestal, and Connor Vestal.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 3:00 pm Saturday afternoon, prior to the funeral service.
