On December 29, 2012, Blain H. Stewart left this earth to be with God and reunite with his family. Blain was a native of Greensboro, the son of William D. and Dorris Wise Stewart. He lived his life loyally, honestly and lovingly. Above all, Blain was a loving father to his son, William, who was his pride and joy. One lesson Blain instilled in his son was to treat everyone with dignity and respect. He felt a calling to study Catholicism to deepen his faith and follow God’s plan. An avid reader, Blain enjoyed spending time reading and watching movies. He was a well-rounded individual with a vast knowledge of history, including the Civil War. He was a lover of life, both of animals and his fellow man. Compassionate, he never met a stranger and always left that person with a smile on his face. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Blain worked as a service advisor for Crown Honda. Blain was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, William “Randy” Stewart. He is survived by his wife, Marlea Stewart, their son, William “Will” Stewart, brother, Sanford “Sandy” Stewart of Greensboro, sisters: Sandra Browne of Colorado, Cathy Lipscomb of SC, brothers: Curtis Ransom of W. VA, Bill Gooding, Rich Gooding, Don Gooding all of SC, Greg Gooding of NC, and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and nieces. He was a beloved family member to his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Kenneth and Margaret Fowler, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, January 7, 2013, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, 201 South Chapman Street, Greensboro, NC 27403. Burial will follow at Guilford Memorial Park. Immediately following the committal service, the family will receive family and friends at the Shrine Club, 5010 High Point Road, Greensboro, NC. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Guilford County Animal Shelter, 4525 W. Wendover Ave., Greensboro, NC 27409. Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel is assisting the family. Online condolences may be made at

I just found out about Blaine's passing this morning at the Honda Service Department. Please accept my heartfelt sympathy for you and your son. We used to be neighbors on Robin Hood. My husband Joe passed in October of last year. Blessings to you, Bobbie Zarate 12/27/13

Just yesterday, I found out about Blaine's passing. I am so shocked and saddened. He was "my" service advisor at Crown Honda over the past 10 years and took such good care of my care and me. He had a wonderful, personal touch. Blaine will be sorely missed. My heart hurts for his family and friends.

So sorry to hear about the death of Blain Stewart. It's rare that during the course of your everyday life you meet an individual that you trust, helps you feel safe, is reliable, always there, & predictable. That's what happened with me as I would bring my 2 small kids with me to get my car fixed at Crown Honda. My son has special needs. During the previous 6 yr. prd., I myself had experienced the loss of my mom and brother. During that time I began to really appreciate the consistent things of life, the things that DO stay the same and don't change. Well, the familiar, but never easy feeling of grief occurred today when my husband and I brought our Honda Odyssey in to do regular maintenance. My husband had driven to drop the car off & was coming a couple minutes later in our other car to pick him up. I was wondering why he was taking so long with Blain. Blain was always there, always handling things, always kind. My husband came out with Blain's obituary in hand & the explanation that he had passed away. Death is not very merciful, but it is the course of all of our lives eventually. Wow, I will miss him. It is hard for me to picture him not in the space when you drive into the garage. I am so sorry for his wife and son, as they grieve and miss seeing him in certain places that they would expect to. Allow yourself to feel the pain, even thought I know it will be hard. I will pray for your family as you experience the grief. He was a wonderful man, the little that I knew him. So sorry for your loss.

I just learned of Blaine's passing from Steve this morning when I was at Crown Honda. Though I dealt with various service advisors, I made most appointments with Blaine since I knew he would check my vehicle extra carefully and often advise me of potential maintenance I might need down the road. There was peace of mind when I made trips out of town if Blaine had been the one who checked things for me. I noticed he was absent last week when I stopped by, so when I returned this morning to pick up my car I asked about him. My prayers are with the family as we share in the loss of a fine man that will be missed greatly.

I am shocked and grieved to hear Blain's work in this mortal world is done; I knew him only through Crown Honda but he had a great soul. My visits to Honda will be hollow without him to greet me.

I just called Crown Honda to speak to Blain and learned of his passing. He was the service adviser for my cars for a number of years. He was fine person and always helpful, cheerful, and had a kind word to say. I know he must have been a great family man. My prayers and thoughts are with his family.

My prayers go out to Blain's family. I am just now finding out about his passing, and I am truly saddened. I met Blain in 2006 at Crown Honda, and he had been my Service Tech every since. Going there will not be the same as he always brought a smile to everyone's face. Blain, you will truly be missed.
