A resident of High Point, Bob was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, having served two enlistments. He retired from UNC-G and was known for his unwavering faith and kindness. An active member of College Park Baptist Church, Bob enjoyed playing golf and working on numerous outdoor and indoor projects, but he cherished spending time with his family the most.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Doris M. Lund, Elouise M. Burns, Peggy M. Farrell, and his brothers Paul Murphy and Ronnie Murphy.
Bobby was married to his loving wife of 68 blessed years, Shirley Murphy, who survives him. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Bobby Murphy Jr. and Michael Murphy and his wife Tammie; three grandchildren, Ryan, Skylar, and Jenna and her husband Trey. He also leaves behind six great-grandchildren, Sean, Arya, Asher, Dany, Clover, and Maple, and a brother-in-law, Buck Burns.
Private family services will be held.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made in Bob’s name to the Salvation Army, 301 West Green Dr., High Point, NC 27260.
