Mrs. Carolyn Dawm Hester

Mrs. Carolyn “Dawn” Hester, 80, of Greensboro, died Friday, October 18, 2013 at Beacon Place.

A graveside service will be held Tuesday, 2:30 p.m. at Lakeview Memorial Park by Rev. Mark Sink.

Dawn was born March 15, 1933 in Greensboro, the daughter of Ostus Coleman and Lottie Clark Coleman.

Dawn was a former member of the Sixteenth St. Baptist Church and the Glory Sunday School Class. She was the bookkeeper for Major Oil Company for many years and developed a brilliant mind for numbers. Dawn enjoyed crafting which kept her Brownie and Girl Scout Troops with countless projects. Dawn was an avid reader and will fondly be remembered as the “fun mom” of the neighborhood.

In addition to her parents, Dawn was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin H. Hester and her sister, Audrey Wood.

Surviving are her daughters, Debra McCannon of Greensboro and Donna Brinsfield and husband Dale of Oak Ridge; brother, Max Coleman and wife Terri of Pleasant Garden; grandson, Joshua McCannon.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro, 2500 Summit Ave., Greensboro, NC 27405.
