She was born in August 1943 to the late Julius “Julie” “JH” Hilton Petty and Helen Virginia Long Petty. For many years, she worked for Bellsouth (now known as AT&T), as an office assistant. She was an animal lover and had various pets over the years. Carolyn loved jewelry, and she even sold it to others in her free time.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Bill Knight, and brothers, Gene Petty and Butch Petty.
Carolyn is survived by her brother, Donald Petty; sisters-in-law, Brenda Petty and Betty Petty; six nieces and nephews; and several cousins.
A graveside funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Guilford Memorial Park, 6000 West Gate City Boulevard, Greensboro, NC 27407, officiated by Pastor Chris Davis.
