Charles Enie Angel

Charles Enie Angel, 87, passed away on Friday, April 11, 2014 at Moses Cone Hospital. Charles was born on November 17, 1926 in Stokesdale, NC, the son of Constantine Enie and Clara Edna Carruthers Angel. He was educated in the Winston-Salem schools, graduating in 1943. He served in the US Navy in the Pacific during World War II. He graduated from North Carolina State University in 1949 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He was employed by the Smoke and Air Pollution Control Department of the City of Winston-Salem before joining AT&T and Bell Laboratories, retiring in 1989 after 38 years of service.

He married Lou Ella Hoots in 1949. She survives, along with two children; son, Charles Eric Angel, and wife, Suzanne of Colfax, NC and daughter, Lu Angel Meares, and husband, Paul of Raleigh, NC; one sister, Mary Noble Bennett of Tullahoma, TN, and a number of nieces and nephews. He was a member of Living Way Church.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, 11:00 a.m. at Living Way Church, 4433 Rehobeth Church Road, Greensboro, NC 27406 conducted by Pastor John Held and Pastor Pete Beck. Graveside services will be held at Enon Baptist Church Cemetery at East Bend, NC in Yadkin County at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Hanes Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel.
