Charles "Skip" Roberts Bailey Jr.

Skip lived in California and Texas before moving to Greensboro in 1959 with his family and was a lifelong member of Guilford Park Presbyterian Church.

Skip volunteered to serve in the United States Marine Corps after graduation from Walter Hines Page Senior High School, Greensboro, NC in 1965.

He served from June 1965 through June 1969. He was a Sargent in Charlie Company, First Battalion, First Marines, First Marine Division. He received the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry, the National Defense Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, Presidential Unit Citation, Rifle Sharpshooter Badge, Naval Achievement Medal, and was a two-time Purple Heart recipient.

He graduated from UNCG in 1973 with a BS in English and worked for the US Postal Office for 34 years before retiring.

Skip was preceded in death by his parents Jaenn Coz Bailey and Charles Roberts Bailey and his sister Kimberly Ann Bailey Roberts Harrison.

Skip is survived by his sister Cissy Bailey Smith, and extended family: Jenny, Mike, Connor, Aubrey and Brooke Lachesky; Benji, Laura, Callum, and Morgan Smith; Jessica Leigh Roberts, Lucas King, Veronica King, and a host of treasured Bailey and Fields Cousins and friends.
