Charles Bobby Shumaker

A graveside funeral service will be held on Monday, August 10, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at Guilford Memorial Park, 6000 West Gate City Boulevard, Greensboro, NC.

Born to Ross and Della Shoemaker, Bobby lived a life defined by hard work and kindness. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Walbert Thomas Shoemaker, Edward Lee Shumaker, and Neal Dennis Shoemaker; and his sisters, Kathleen Albright and Evelyn Landrum. He is survived by his sisters, Frances S. Sessoms and Maxine Jennings, and many nieces and nephews.

Bobby proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1955 until 1957 and continued his commitment through several years of service in the United States Marine Corps Reserve. He carried the pride and patriotism of a Marine throughout his life and remained honored to have served his country.

Whether greeting customers at his service station in South Florida or welcoming visitors into convenience stores, Bobby was known for his contagious smile and quick wit. He had a remarkable ability to turn an ordinary interaction into a memorable conversation and never met a stranger. Customers looked forward to seeing him because they knew they would leave with a smile and one of Bobby's favorite reminders: "Have a good day, now!”

A devoted sports fan, Bobby especially loved North Carolina basketball and NASCAR racing. Whether watching a big game, following his favorite drivers, or sharing spirited sports conversations with family and friends, he was always eager to cheer on his favorites and enjoy the camaraderie that sports bring.

Bobby will be remembered for his ability to brighten the day of everyone he met.
