Charlotte Rebecca Cox was born on January 27th, 1937. She passed away peacefully on December 19th, exactly three months after the passing of her beloved, Fred. Charlotte was born of the late Ethel Lena Cox in Greensboro, NC.
Charlotte grew up in Greensboro. She met Fred in the 4th grade when he defended her on her first day of school. Fred fondly called her Charlie and they were married for 71 amazing years. Over the years, they raised seven children and cared for countless others. Charlotte was a natural care giver and loved children. She wanted everyone to feel loved and welcome in her home. She loved having her family together, enjoying a good meal, laughing, tickling her grandchildren, holding her “great grands”, playing games, telling stories, and sitting next to Fred.
Over the years she worked many jobs but she was most proud of being a mother and Nana. She valued quality time and loved her afternoon phone calls with her family members. While her husband was deployed, for two years during the Vietnam War and on various lengthy tours of duty, she took care of everything at home.
Charlotte always maintained her sense of humor when things were challenging and told amazing stories that would have everyone laughing. She was also brutally honest, but you always knew where you stood with Charlotte. She was fiercely loyal, always supporting her family in every circumstance. She was truly a gift to all of us, and she will be dearly missed.
A graveside service will be held on April 17th at 1:00pm at Lakeview Memorial Park to celebrate the lives of Fred and Charlotte Parrish.
The family would like to especially thank the caregivers from Heritage Greens of Greensboro and the wonderful team from AuthoraCare Hospice for their love and compassionate care. Donations may be made to AuthoraCare Hospice.
