A memorial service will be held Sunday, April 6, 2025, 2:00 p.m., at Grace Life Church. Friends will be received following the service.
Marty was born August 13, 1957, in Aberdeen, NC, the son of Clarence and Nancy Branson DeZalia.
Marty was a machinist at Ingersoll Rand for many years before joining NAPA as an assistant manager. His career was a testament to his passion for racing. Marty created a patented part for auto racing while at Ingersoll Rand that was later put into production. He has touched by many lives in the racing world from Top Fuel cars, Pro Mods and Open Wheel. His friends will remember him for his encouraging words, caring demeanor and quick wit.
In addition to his parents, Marty was preceded in death by his sisters, Nancy Hall and Sandy Grueniski.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Clara “Kay” DeZalia of Greensboro and his stepchildren, Scott Allman of Parkersburg, WVA and Holly Cumberledge (Joe) of Pleasant Garden; half-sister, Beverly DeZalia of Southern Pines and several cousins and nephews.
The family asks with gratitude that memorials in Marty’s name be made to Grace Life Church, 2317 Stanley Rd., Greensboro, NC 27407 or to Hospice of the Piedmont, 1801 Westchester Drive, High Point, NC 27262.
