Corinne was educated in the public schools of Greensboro and graduated from Page High School where she was a cheerleader. After graduating from college, Corinne taught school in Charlottesville, VA and Atlanta, GA before returning to Greensboro to complete her Masters at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. During her graduate studies, she met Jeff Buckalew of Winston-Salem. They were married in 1995 and began their married life together in New York City. Prior to having children, Corinne was a teacher at Ethical Culture School in New York. She was on the board of the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts and was also an avid supporter of Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello where she and Jeff had just been named Co-Chairs of The Monticello Cabinet.
Throughout her life, Corinne made genuine friends wherever she went. She had a bright spirit and her presence made every encounter more memorable. A loyal friend, Corinne could always be counted on during good times and bad. She was generous with her time and talents and spent many hours volunteering in her children’s schools and the many organizations in which she and her husband were involved. While she loved being at home in Charlottesville the most, Corinne had a true passion for travel and adventure. She was a talented painter and designer who loved beautiful things and had an inimitable style. She loved to laugh and to be surrounded by her family and friends.
