December 21, 1941- December 3, 2021
D. John Coggins, 79, of Greensboro, North Carolina, passed away on Friday, December 3, 2021.
John spent his 50-year career working in insurance, investments and wealth management, predominately with Prudential Insurance Company as a Certified Life Underwriter and a Chartered Financial Consultant. He was a life member of the Million Dollar Round Table and the Certified Life Underwriter Society. Many of his clients considered him a personal friend because of the way he took care of them through the years.
John loved his church, West Market United Methodist, where he taught Sunday School for many classes, but predominately for the Asbury Covenant Sunday School. He was a Certified Lay Speaker in the United Methodist Church. He and his wife, Janet, served as youth directors for over a decade at Moriah United Methodist Church, teaching young people that they were important to them but most importantly, they were important to Jesus.
John loved people and never met a stranger. He loved life, loved to laugh and loved to make those around him do the same.
John was a loving husband to his wife, Janet, of 60 years and one month, and a loving father to his three children, David Coggins (Kim), Susan Coggins Norris (Mark), and Steve Coggins (Jen), a loving Pa to his seven grandchildren, Reed Coggins, Alison Coggins McGee, Sam Norris, Laura Norris, Haley Ray Coggins, Kolby Coggins and Jacob Coggins, and his great granddaughter, Evelyn McGee. One of John’s greatest joys in the world was his family. He loved each member of his family individually and prayed for them faithfully.
There will be a private service for the family. Visitation with the family will be Tuesday, December 7, 2021, 2 p.m.- 4p.m. at Haynes Lineberry, 515 North Elm Street, Greensboro, NC 27401.
