Darrell Leroy Chester

Darrell Leroy Chester, 74, passed away on Monday, April 14, 2014, at Wesley Long Hospital.

Darrell was born on December 8, 1939 in Alamance County, NC, the son of Dermont F. and Dorothy Rich Chester. He served his country in the US Navy. Darrell worked with Walnut Circle Press until his retirement. He always enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family. He was a member of Living Waters Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. He will be deeply missed.

Darrell is survived by his wife, Brenda P Chester; son, Michael Chester and wife Susan of Trinity, NC; daughter, Angela Overman of Graham, NC; step-daughter, Annette Hall and husband James of Greensboro, NC and step-son, Richard Williams Jr. of Pleasant Garden, NC; brother, Jerry Chester and wife Barbara of Graham, NC; grandchildren, Christian, Dakota, Olivia, Taylor, Sydney, Tyler, Brandon, Grayson, and Daniel.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, 3:00 p.m. at Hanes Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel with burial with full military rites to follow at Guilford Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Thursday.

We are so sorry to hear of Darrell's passing. Our condolences to Brenda and the rest of Darrell's family. Tommy worked with Darrell for many years at WCP and we have often thought of him though the years. We will fondly remember Darrell and forever miss his sense of humor. Rest in peace dear friend.

Paw paw was the greatest man alive in my book. He taught me everything I know now. He taught me to fish, ride a bike with no training wheels, tie knots, tie a tie, and many other things.
