My personal and sincere goals…Do the right things for the right reasons and at the right times, with God’s love, my honor and your respect. A loving husband and father, Dave English and the love of his life, Joyce were married almost 62 years and reunited on January 11, 2024. David Clarence English was 85 and a very proper gentleman. He will be remembered as very patient, loyal, faithful and kind.
In high school he was an Eagle Scout. He attended the US Naval Academy and served 6 years in the Navy on submarines. He then left the Navy and went to work for IBM where he had a long and successful career in marketing and management. He and Joyce were co-owners of Action Printing Center. He celebrated his strong faith at First Baptist Church where he taught Sunday school for more than twenty five years, served as deacon, Chairman of Deacons, and was a member of the choir.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Edna English, his wife, Joyce and granddaughter, Virginia Joyce Hill. He is survived by his daughter, Sondra Hill (Skip) of Raleigh, NC; son, Michael English (Andrea) of Buford, GA; sisters, Carole Read, and Margie (Mark) Roberts, seven grandchildren, Spencer Hill, Andrew (Ashley) Hill, Preston Hill, Brandon Hill and Catherine Hill, Alexander (Valerie) English and William English; great granddaughter, Hadley Hill and one on the way.
The family would like to extend their appreciation to the Staff at WhiteStone Wellness Center and AuthoraCare Hospice for their care.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org in memory of Joyce English, or the Myotonic Dystrophy Foundation at Myotonic.org. Online condolences may be offered at www.haneslineberryfhnorthelm.com.
