A service of remembrance will be held Sunday, 2:00 p.m., at Hanes-Lineberry N. Elm Chapel by Rev. Angela Beard. Friends will be received from 1:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m., prior to the service, at the funeral home. Refreshments will be served.
Delbert was born October 3, 1941 in Columbia, NC, the son of John Swain and Martha Simmons Swain.
Delbert was an over the road truck driver for many years. He enjoyed camping with his family, cooking and making fried chicken.His specialty was his hamburger recipe. Delbert will be remembered for his laid back style and telling his favorite jokes. Most of all, Delbert enjoyed spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, Delbert was preceded in death by his wife, Dixie Gail Swain.
Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Donna Hardiman and husband Bill of Whitsett; sons, David Swain of Kernersville and Danny Swain and wife Alicia of Oak Ridge; brother, Milton Swain and wife Ann Cheryl of Creswell; grandchildren, Cameron Heath, Connor Overbey, Jared, Daniela and Clara Swain.
The family asks with gratitude that memorials in Delbert’s name be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 4615 Dundas Drive, Greensboro, NC 27407.
