Delores was the daughter of Paul and Helen Spalding of Indianapolis Indiana, where she grew up with a true appreciation for nature, horses, music, and with a deep devotion to the Lord. She graduated from Butler University with a Fine Arts degree in Music and went on to achieve her master’s degree from the University of Georgia in Music Education. Delores sang beautifully as a Mezzo Soprano, with Opera as her lifelong musical passion. She played piano, cello and the French horn. Delores delighted in teaching Music for many years at the university level and later in middle schools and cultivated a deep love of Music and the Arts in all four of her children. She went on to work in several other professional roles in business and as a community service devotee throughout her lifetime, including serving as PTA President, both Cub Scout and Girl Scout Leader, fund-raiser for numerous charities, and as a private support to so many.
Delores' children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and family were her deepest Joy, as she was one of ours. We could not have asked for a more intelligent, gifted and deeply loving Matriarch. All four of her children were inspired to love Christ through our mother’s shining example of love and unselfishness.
Delores is survived by all four of her children: Eric F. Heiney and Emil W. Heiney of Greensboro, Carl T. Heiney of both Atlanta and Greensboro; and Beth Ann Styron Loder of Salem, VA. Emil's children Kreig Heiney (Kelsey) of Stoneville, and great grandchildren Luke & Adelynn Heiney; Miss Drexyn Ramsey, Quin Heiney Parker (Judith) and Ethan Heiney, all of Charlotte, NC.
The family will warmly welcome visitors on Thursday, January 29th from 5-7PM at Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home, 515 Elm Street, Greensboro.
