
Born on November 24th, 1945 in Escanaba, Michigan, Dennis was the second of four children born to John and Alicia Bissell.
Dennis joined the U.S. Air Force and served in the Vietnam War. , Later, Dennis became a Municipal Bond salesman, working in Winston-Salem, NC and Chicago, Ill. He was a loving, caring and extremely humorous friend and father. Known for his “type-A” personality and sharp wit, Dennis made friends easily. His family hopes that those who knew him find comfort in knowing that he never lost his sense of humor and ability to make every one in the room laugh.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Dennis is survived by his ex-wife and friend, Virginia Starr Bissell; his daughter, Frances “Frankie” Glavin Bissell, and his son Dennis Ross Bissell, his daughter-in-law Izabela, and granddaughter, Sara, all residents of Greensboro, NC. Dennis is also survived by his siblings John Clement Bissell, Paul David Bissell and Alicia Bissell Kennedy, as well as his nieces and nephews, John, Tommy, PJ, Megan, Sean, Niya and Brandon.
Dennis is also survived by many dear family friends from Escanaba, MI and Lake Forest, Ill.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes for contributions to be made to the Junior Achievement of Central NC, 3220 Northline Ave., Greensboro, NC 27408.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday, December 30 at Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home N. Elm St. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
