

Dennis Carpenter Bowie, 72, a resident of Greensboro, NC, passed away on Wednesday April 9, 2025, at Wesley Long Hospital, after a short battle with cancer. He was born September 23, 1952, in Washington, D.C., the son of Charles William and Mary Agnes Carpenter Bowie.
Dennis was a sales representative for many years with Haggar Apparel Company and later was with Dickies Workwear. His roles there included the Director of Domestic Licensing and President of Williamson-Dickie Canada.
His church home was St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church where he served as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion to the Sick and Homebound, and at Mass. He volunteered as a driver for the American Cancer Society transferring patients to and from treatments, and his patients became lasting friends. Dennis loved playing golf with friends, “A Good Walk Spoiled”. He also enjoyed wood working and spending time with his grandchildren who made his heart smile.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents and older brother, Charles William Bowie, Jr. Surviving are his wife, Lisa Nutter Bowie, two daughters, Heather Bowie Young and husband Jeremy of Hypoluxo, FL, Megan Bowie Ballentine and husband Brad of Greensboro; one son, Anthony (Tony) Michael Bowie and wife June of Winter Springs, FL; one brother, Chris Bowie and wife Celeste of the The Villages, FL; sister-in-law, Robin Bowie of Phoenix, AZ and five grandchildren, Laura Jean Bowie, Naaman Ballentine, Miles Ballentine, Finn Ballentine and Ellis Ballentine.
A funeral mass and celebration of life service will be held at the Mount Carmel Monastery in La Plata, MD on May 16, 2025 at 11 am.
