

Dennis Wayne McDaniels, 65, passed away on Saturday, May 21, 2011 after a courageous battle with cancer. Services to celebrate his life will be held on Thursday, 11:00 a.m. at Jamestown United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Guilford Memorial Park.
Dennis was born in Parkersburg, WV on January 7, 1946, the son of Holder B. and Mildred Austin McDaniels. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from West Virginia University and Master of Industrial Engineering from North Carolina State University. He worked with AT&T as a software design engineer and retired after 37 ½ years of service. Dennis was a member of Jamestown United Methodist Church, the Greensboro Civitans, Jamestown Jaycees and was an avid supporter of the NC Swimming Association. All those that knew him saw his dedication and commitment in everything that he did. Whether it was his work, his family, North Carolina swimming, High Point Swim Club, Greensboro Swim Association, coaching youth athletics, he was a devoted volunteer until his illness.
He was a loving husband and father, who lived his life for his family. Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 45 years, Carolyn Noland McDaniels; sons, Chris McDaniels and wife Meg of Carrboro, NC, Dustin McDaniels and Courtney Pollard of Greenville, SC, John McDaniels of Jamestown, NC; grandchildren; Andrew, Emily, Claire, and Lucy McDaniels; brother, Gary McDaniels and wife Cathy of Pennsboro, WV and nephew Chase McDaniels. He will deeply missed.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hanes Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel.
