Born May 18, 1953, in Greensboro to the late Alvis London Kirkman and Doris Aldridge Kirkman, Devon was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Patti Parker and Brenda Templeton; and her nephew, Paul Wilson.
Left to cherish her memory is her beloved husband of 39 years, James Yow; her loving sons, Charles "Charlie" Gundaker (April) of Trinity, NC and Jason Gundaker (Libbi) also of Greensboro; and her four precious grandchildren, Caleb Gundaker, Matthew Gundaker, Emersyn Gundaker, and Nolan Gundaker who knew her affectionately as "Mawmaw Precious" and "Granny."
Devon graduated from Grimsley High School, worked for 25 years at Guilford Mills, and retired in 2015 from Ashland Chemical Company. In her later years, she dedicated herself to lovingly caring for her husband as he navigated life with dementia. She found joy in cooking, feeding her squirrels from the back porch, and most of all, spending time with her family.
A visitation to celebrate her life will be held Friday, August 22, 2025 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Advantage Funeral & Cremation Services, 1900 Vanstory St, Greensboro, NC, 27403.
Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved her.
