December 16, 1939November 3, 2018

Diana Wilkins Tilley, 78, was secure in her salvation when she died November 3, 2018 after years of declining health. A graveside service to celebrate her life will be at 2 PM, Wednesday, November 7 at Isom Baptist Church Cemetery, 2651 Tuttle Road, Walnut Cove, North Carolina 27052 officiated by Dr. Lawrence Clapp. Diana was born in Greensboro to the late Richard E. and Columbia Gaither Wilkins and graduated from Greensboro Senior High School. She met and married James Stewart Tilley while still in high school when they were working at separate grocery stores. With their vast knowledge of the grocery business they opened their own store, Village Food Market in Randleman, and were successful retailers for 45 years. James preceded her in death in 1991. She loved the community and people of Randleman and was a friendly familiar face behind the counter 15 hours a day, 7 days a week. Diana will be remembered for her hard work and dedication to the community. She was an independent person who was not afraid to share her opinion even if not asked. What little spare time they enjoyed, James and Diana would travel to watch racing of any kind, especially NASCAR. She is survived by her brothers and their spouses, Charles M. “Mickey” Kerans and wife Betty Ann of Summerfield and William G. “Bill” Wilkins and wife Betty of SC and several nieces and nephews along with their families. In addition to her parents and husband Diana’s brother, Richard E. Wilkins, Jr. preceded her in death. We have known Diana many, many years, we also knew James. Boyd did the electrical work for the store and for their house for years even after James died, Diana always called on him. James was the quiet one and she was the go getter so to speak. It just broke our heart to see her health deteriorate like it did but now she can rest in peace. When our daughter was just a little girl Diana and James got a little doll in the store that they thought looked like our daughter and they gave it to her. I wish so often we kept that little doll but guess it wore out over the years and got thrown away. Diana was such a sweet heart loved to talk and would talk to anybody and everybody. She was one of the hardest workers I think I have ever known. She opened and closed Village Food Market every single day for years. Diana RIP you deserve it. Boyd and Joanne Causey
