Mr. Don Moyer Groce

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 22 at Irving Park United Methodist Church with The Rev. Brian Allen officiating. Committal services will follow at Westminster Gardens.

Mr. Groce was a member of Irving Park United Methodist Church where he was a member of the Methodist Men and previously served as an usher. He was a retired computer programmer. Mr. Groce was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and served during the Korean War. He loved listening to “Big Band” music and was an avid record collector. He also enjoyed every facet of airplanes. He was a family man who liked to tinker in his workshop and do yard work. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Naomi Groce and a sister, Marion Nicholson.

Mr. Groce is survived by his wife of 55 years, Helen T. Groce, daughters, Laura Whitfield and husband, Gerald of Cincinnati, OH, Jennifer Groce, Phyllis Groce, son, Donald Groce all of Greensboro, grandchild, Garrett Whitfield and step-grandchildren, Brian and Tamara Whitfield.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Irving Park UMC, 1510 W. Cone Blvd., Greensboro, NC 27408 or to the American Cancer Society, 4-A Oak Branch Dr., Greensboro, NC 27407.

The family will receive friends following the service at the home of Phyllis Groce, 302 Willoughby Blvd.
