Doris Reba Cox of Jamestown died Tuesday, July 6, 2021. Reba was born in Asheboro, NC on May 7, 1943. She was the daughter of Fred and Sara Maness and grew up just south of Asheboro. Reba graduated from Seagrove High School in 1961 and married Edwin Cox on June 17, 1961 at Oakhurst Baptist Church in Asheboro. They moved to Raleigh, NC where she worked at Occidental Insurance Company while Ed attended NC State University. Reba and Ed moved to Melbourne, FL and then to Huntsville, AL where her two children were born. Ed and Reba returned to North Carolina in 1976 and raised their family in Jamestown, NC. Reba attended First Baptist Church of Jamestown and was a member of the XYZ Senior Adults and was active in the WEE School Program. She also served as a greeter and assisted with treasury and communion.

Reba was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Cox, and her parents, Fred and Sara Maness. She is survived by her children, Lillie Cox and Emmette Cox; sister and brother-in-law, Elaine and Larry Cox; nephews, Jonathan Cox and wife, Caroline and Jason Cox and special friends, the Marlowe, Harding, and Wagoner families. A service celebrating her life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 10th at the First Baptist Church of Jamestown conducted by Dr. Mark Ashworth. Interment will follow in Guilford Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until service time. Mrs. Cox will remain at the Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel on Friday from 12:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. for friends to come by and sign her memorial book and pay their respects. Memorials may be made in Reba's memory to First Baptist Church of Jamestown PO Box 788 Jamestown, NC 27282.
