

Doris Sutton Crutchfield, 89, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2010 at Friends Home at Guilford. A service to celebrate her Life will be held on Sunday, 2:00 pm at the First Baptist Church with Dr. Stephen Pressley officiating, Burial will be private.
Doris was born on Jan. 8, 1921 in Guilford County, the daughter of Edgar C. and Nancy Blanchard Sutton. She grew up in Groometown and graduated from Jamestown High School. Doris was a charter member of the First Baptist Church on Friendly and taught ceramics there for years. She was an avid bowler, loved to square dance, and played “penny poker “ with the guys at Friends Home. She also loved her Tarheels.
Doris was preceded in death by her loving husband, Wayland A. Crutchfield in 1992. Surviving are her children; Carolyn Dickson-Brooks and husband Carroll E. Brooks of Durham, NC, Alice D. Crutchfield of Vass, NC and Andy Crutchfield and wife Priscilla Cranford Crutchfield of Greensboro, NC; grandchildren: David M. Dickson Jr. and wife Natalie Hess Dickson of Chapel Hill, NC, D. Glenn Dickson and wife Amy Perry Dickson of Durham, NC, JaneHoward Crutchfield of Chapel Hill, NC, Dr. Brent W. Crutchfield of Nanaimo, Vancouver British Columbia, Carolyn Crutchfield Wasdell and husband Edward Wasdell of Apex, NC and Wayland Alexander Crutchfield III of Washington, DC, Jordan Rickard and Zac Rickard of Thomasville; great grandchildren: David Max Dickson III, Coleman Penn Dickson, Zachary Glenn Dickson, Perry Alexander Dickson, Quinn Taylor Dickson and Hayes Rebekah Wasdell.
Memorials may be made to the Friends Home at Guilford, 925 New Garden Road, Greensboro, NC 27410.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Sunday in the Church Parlor.
