

Doris was born on May 17, 1934, to Phillip and Eva Joseph in Greensboro, N.C. After Doris graduated from Grimsley High School in 1952, she went on to work at Burlington Industries until she married in 1961.
She had three children, Richard Owens Jr, Todd Owens, and Ryan Owens.
Doris dedicated her life to serving the community. She was an active member of Saint Paul the Apostle Church where she was a Eucharistic Minister, bringing communion to the homebound, a Sponsor for new members to the Catholic Faith. She also dedicated her time to Habitat for Humanity, the homeless shelter in Greensboro and Meals on Wheels. Doris believed in living a life of service and personified that philosophy.
Doris was predeceased by her parents Phillip and Eva Joseph, her eldest brother, Fred Joseph, and her youngest sister Yvonne Clontz. She is survived by her brother, Phillip Joseph Jr. and his wife Cindy, her sister-in-law, Helen Joseph and her sons, Richard, Todd and Ryan Owens, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the amazing staff at Westley Long 2nd floor ICU for their professionalism and incredible compassion and the staff at Countryside Manor.
A memorial mass will be held at 2 pm on Wednesday, November 22, 2023 at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. The family will receive friends starting at 1 pm at the church. Inurnment will follow the service at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
