Dorothy "Dot" B. Sinopoli

Dorothy “Dot” Sinopoli died on July 13, 2013 at River Landing Retirement Community. She was born on October 6, 1924 in Rockingham County, NC, the youngest of five children of Uriah Whitfield and Malissa Mearle Wall Brown.

She was a gifted seamstress, gardner, decorator and dessert –maker. In addition, she enjoyed playing golf and was an active member of the Sedgefield Women’s Golf Association for many years.

A lifelong friend to animals, she especially found joy and amazement in feeding, watering, and watching the nesting birds that returned every year to her back patio. She was a great “pet-mom” to Smokey, her dog and more recently, to Bella, her beloved cat, and finally, she was a wonderful Mom to Phil, her son and Kathryn, her daughter.

Dot was preceded in death by her husband, Frank R. Sinopoli in 2000; three brothers, James W. Brown, Robert H. Brown, and Dewey C. Brown. Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Kathryn Sinopoli of Winston Salem, NC; son, Phillip A. Sinopoli and wife Kathy P. of Greensboro, NC; grandchildren, Cameron Leasure and husband Dustan , Richard F. Sinopoli; great grandchildren, Davis Dana Leasure and Dakota Rennae Leasure; and sister, Daisy B Briggs of Reidsville, NC.

A Celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday, 2:00 p.m. at Hanes Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel, 6000 High Point Road, Greensboro, NC 27407. Private burial services will follow the service. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.
