Douglas "Wooly" Lee Wilkerson Sr.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at Hanes-Lineberry Vanstory Chapel.

Born in Louisville, Kentucky on July 15, 1951 to the late Ransom and Sylvia Wilkerson, Doug was of the Christian faith. He served in the United States Army and retired from Lorillard Tobacco Company. He enjoyed bowling, playing golf, playing sweepstakes, but mostly he enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, who was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew him.

Those left to cherish his memory include his adoring wife of 43 years, Terri Hack Wilkerson of the home; daughters, Melissa Essick and Shana Wilkerson, both of Greensboro; sons, Douglas Wilkerson, Jr., and Scott Wilkerson, both of Greensboro; sisters, Patty Thompson and her husband John of Indiana, Cathy Hasken and her husband Don of Kentucky, and Joann Higgins and her husband Carl of Kentucky; brothers, Mike Daily of Colorado and Junior Wilkerson and wife Carol of Kentucky; 9 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild, and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm Monday, August 17, 2015 at Hanes-Lineberry Vanstory Chapel.
