

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 14, 2012 at Centenary United Methodist Church. Interment at Fairview Cemetery in Westfield, New Jersey will be scheduled at a later date.
Born in Camden, N.J. in 1923, Mr. Bowden lived with his family in Westfield, N.J. and he graduated from Westfield High School in 1941.
His college education at Lehigh University was interrupted by the second World War when he served as a captain in the U.S. Army in Europe. He was an intelligence officer in the 89th Infantry Division where he earned a Bronze Star.
After the war, Warren returned to Lehigh and graduated in 1948 with a B.S. in Industrial Engineering. He worked most of his career with Western Electric as Manager of Labor Relations in New York and Greensboro, N.C. He was married to Doris Roeder and after her death to Deane Smith who also preceded him in death. Warren was an active member of Centenary United Methodist Church and the Pittard Sunday School Class in Greensboro. He was also involved in numerous community, social, and civic organizations. An avid dancer, he was a long time member of Club 75.
Mr. Bowden is survived by his children, Sally Vikner and husband, Paul of Allentown, PA, Susan Schwarz and husband, Doug of Westfield, N.J., Robert Bowden of Whippany, N.J., and Judy Stoner and husband, Chris of Park City, Utah. He is also survived by a sister, Barbara Scofield and husband, Gerald of Tafton, PA grandchildren; Mark Vikner and wife, Carolyn, Sarah Vikner, Brad Schwarz and wife, Mary, Chris Schwarz, Peggy Logan and husband, Grant, Paul Stoner, and Rick Stoner, and great-grandchildren; Hannah, Benjamin and Mason Vikner and Abby and Isaac Logan.
The family will receive friends at the church following the service.
