

Mr. Edward Booker Stout “Buddy”, 83, passed away suddenly Friday, March 20, 2015 at Moses Cone Hospital. Services to celebrate his life will be at 2 PM, Thursday, March 26 at Hanes-Lineberry Sedgefield chapel with Reverend Phillip Byrum officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
Buddy was born in Greensboro on July 2, 1931 to the late Ralph Dee and Virginia Booker Stout Sr. He attended Greensboro public schools and graduated from Greensboro Senior High School. Buddy then attended Duke University, graduating in 1954 with a degree in civil engineering. He returned to Greensboro to work with his father at Southern Mapping and Engineering Co. Over the years Buddy acquired ownership of the company, which he managed and operated until his retirement in 2001. He was a licensed professional engineer.
Buddy was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and nephew. Golf was one of his greatest pleasures, both playing and watching, and he could be found otherwise with his head in a book, having loved to read all his life.
Surviving are his wife of sixty years, Dorlee Stout, two children, son, Michael Edward Stout (wife, Wendy Camp Stout); daughter, Sydney Denise Stout; granddaughter, Ashley Jordan Stout; brother, Ralph Dee Stout, Jr. (wife, Berry); aunt, Elizabeth Booker; brother-in-law, Dennis Tucker; and special friends, Haney and Paula Camp.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro, 2500 Summit Ave., Greensboro, NC 27405 or a charity of one’s choice.
