

Edward “Ed” John Loftus, 71, a resident of High Point passed away on Wednesday August 4, 2021 at Moses H. Cone Hospital in Greensboro. He was born May 22, 1950 in Scranton, PA the son of a Pennsylvania State Trooper, the late John Francis Loftus and the late Marie Ann Nolan Loftus.
Ed was a graduate of Kings College in Wilkes-Barre, PA. He managed a grocery store in Wilkes-Barre and later joined the U.S. Marine Corp. After his discharge from the Marine Corp he was an operations/supply chain manager for various companies for 35 years several which specialized in aircraft parts. He loved all sports especially baseball where he was a former little league coach. Ed loved the Dodgers going back to the original Brooklyn Dodgers. He loved his Irish Heritage and was an avid supporter of Notre Dame. Not to forget, he could easily be talked into taking time out for his other past time which was fishing.
He was a member of Covenant Church United Methodist and the New Connections Sunday School Class.
Ed was married for 38 years to Linda Rhines who preceded him in death on February 25, 2020
Surviving are his daughter Heather L. Hicks, her husband Scott and their two children, Julia and Grayson Hicks; his sons; John Loftus and his wife Ashley and their two children, Austin and Liam, Matt Loftus and his fiance’ Lexie Roberts; his sister, Rosemary Kocher of Hanover Township, PA; his aunt, Barbara McGraw of Edison, NJ and his nephew, Neil Kocher and wife Denise of Mountain Top, PA.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Covenant Church United Methodist 1526 Skeet Club Rd. High Point, NC 27265 conducted by the Reverend Darren Alexander. The family will receive friends at the church from 12:00 p.m. until service time.
Memorials may be made in Ed’s memory to Covenant Church United Methodist.
