Though our arms are achingly empty, his are full, as he is now reunited with his beautiful son Scott, his only brother Stanley, and a host of other beloved family and friends. And. We. Celebrate.
He was born October 28, 1932 in New Hyde Park, Long Island New York to the late Edward A. Lange, Sr. and Rose Lauper Lange.
In 1950 Pops graduated from Malverne High School in Malverne, New York.
He then went on to study and graduate from Colgate University in Hamilton, New York. Upon graduation, he entered the United States Air Force where he achieved the rank of Captain while serving in Texas, as well as in the Philippines.
During this time, he was introduced to Information Technology, which he continued as his career once leaving the Air Force. His work took him and his family to several states across the country, as well as time spent in Brussels.
Pops was a lover of all sports, but especially basketball which he played from middle school on up through college. He was a fan of Duke Basketball, Carolina Panthers Football, Professional Tennis, and he was a Master of Bracketology during every season of March Madness…
He valued healthy and spirited competitions of any kind.
Wherever Pops and his family were living, there was a deep connection to local College and Professional Sports. Many of his happiest days were those attending sporting events with his family. Pops enjoyed painting and woodcarving, traveling, walking the beach, reading and simply “kicking back” with those he loved. His sense of humor was the lens through which Pops viewed every part of life, and not a day would go by without him sharing a joke or witty comment. He made us laugh large. Pops was an affectionate and gentle man, always expressing his deep love for his family and friends. Pops was a member of Calvary Church. He was grateful for the teaching there, where he learned and grew in his walk with Jesus. The joy of the Lord was evident in every prayer he spoke and in every day he was given. While he is profoundly missed here, we rejoice that he is HOME. Pops is survived by his devoted wife and best friend of 66 years, Barbara J. Lange; sister, Kathleen Gallagher; children, Doug (Julie), Dana (Tom), Jenny (Keith); grandchildren, Eric (Sara), Travis (Ashley), Mike (Bethaney), Jeff (Stacey), Brian (Ali) and Sydney Lange; and great-grandchildren, Lucy and Jackson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Stanley Lange, and a son, Scott Edward Lange.
A memorial service is being planned and will be announced in the near future.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be sent to Calvary Church, 1665 Pleasant Ridge Road, Greensboro, NC 27409. Online condolences may be made at www.haneslineberryfhsedgefield.com.
