Elizabeth “Libby” Frazier Bowles, 76, of Greensboro, North Carolina, passed away on October 27, 2026. Born December 21, 1949, in Rural Hall, North Carolina, she lived a life marked by steady purpose, bright spirit, and an energy that carried her faithfully through each season of work, service, and devotion to others.
Libby was a graduate of UNCG and attended Davidson County Community College, valuing learning as a practical foundation for a life well lived and well given.
Over the years, Libby built a varied and meaningful career. She was employed with the Guilford County Department of Social Services, First Home Federal Bank, Masonic & Eastern Star Home, and worked as a paralegal for the Internal Revenue Service. In every role, she brought a capable presence and a forward-moving determination—never content to let things drift and known for having little patience for bureaucracy when it stood in the way of getting something done.
Libby found community and purpose in the causes and organizations she supported. She was involved with the Piedmont Quilters Guild and the Guilford County Democratic Party, and she volunteered with the Guilford County Animal Shelter. Her care for animals was especially enduring; throughout her life she had over 15 rescue dogs, including her first, Muffin, and her favorite, Daisy. In these commitments, her happiness showed itself not in grand gestures, but in consistent attention, loyalty, and the lively warmth she brought to the people and creatures she cared for.
She is survived by her husband, James Bowles, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
The family extends sincere gratitude to Wesley Long Hospital and Alamance Health Care Center for the care and support provided.
