A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery, 6000 W. Gate City Blvd. in Greensboro.
Markie was born in July 5, 1930 to the late John and Pearl Witcher. She met her husband, Jack, at a movie theater prior to his deployment during WWII. They married upon his return and had one son, Gary. She and her family lived in Jamestown where she worked at Oakdale Mills and attended Hickory Chapel Wesleyan Church. Markie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be missed by many. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack; her son, Gary; and her brother, Johnny Witcher.
She is survived by her grandchildren, Angie Lang, Jessica Jones and her husband, Chad Minton and Bobby Jones; great-grandchildren, Carmen Minton, David Lang, Carter Jones, Teagan Jones, Brynn Jones, Henry Lang and Ella Minton; her sister-in-law, Charlotte Witcher; and her nieces and nephews. Grandma had dozens of honorary grandchildren and great-grandchildren who brought much joy to her life.
