

A service of remembrance will be held Saturday, June 25, 2016 at 2:00 in the afternoon at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church. The family will receive guests in the Haywood Duke Room immediately following the service.
Bette was born May 26, 1925 in Clydebank, Scotland, the daughter of James Brewster Craig and Jamesina Campbell Craig.
Bette retired as a clerk working for North Carolina National Bank and also worked at the Pinetop Tennis Club. She studied at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto, Canada and enjoyed singing. Bette had a deep faith and expressed it through music with church choirs through the years. She was a member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church and enjoyed the support shown by her church family. Bette had a quick wit which was revealed by her humorous personality. She loved her Dachshund’s and enjoyed baking for her family.
In addition to her parents, Bette was preceded in death by her husband, Len Slaughter.
Surviving are her children, Anne Slaughter of Greensboro and Alan Slaughter (Jan) of Fleming Island, FL; sister, Nina Crawford of Peterborough, Ontario, Canada; grandchildren, Tori Todd (Troy), Cody and Cali Slaughter; great grandchildren, Aidan, Maren, Sadie and Josie Todd.
In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions in Bette’s name be made to Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, 607 N. Greene St., Greensboro, NC 27401.
