

Ennio Paul D’Amato passed away January 5, 2026 in his residence due to an ongoing illness with COPD. Ennio was preceded in death by his parents Eva and Vincenzo D’Amato as well as his brother Sante D’Amato.
He is survived by his wife Linda Ann D’Amato and two sons; Brian Paul Vincent D’Amato and Ennio Lee D’Amato. Grandchildren: Kayla Marie D’Amato and Vince Nathan D’Amato. Siblings: Arturo D’Amato, Vince (Renee) D’Amato, Philip (Irene) D’Amato and Marylou (Bryan) Woods.
Ennio D’Amato was born on September 17, 1946 in Sulmona, Italy to Eva and Vincenzo D’Amato. His parents along with his two brothers Arturo and Sante moved to the United States when he was young and settled in Ohio where they had 3 more children; Vince, Phillip and Marylou.
Ennio enlisted into the Army after high school and served as a Central Office Telephone Operator. While serving he earned the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, an Army Commendation Medal and a Good Conduct Medal. Sergeant Ennio D’Amato was honorably discharged in 1969 while remaining under reserve contract until 1971.
At this time Ennio met the love of his life Linda Payne and they married in July of 1969 and had two children. They eventually settled in Greensboro, North Carolina with their two sons Brian and Ennio. He then went on to be a Commercial and Residential Contractor and build apartment complexes and large hotels. He even built the house that Linda still lives in today and others on their road. Ennio then became a grandfather when Kayla and Vince were born making him the proudest man in the world from that moment on.
Ennio was a good husband, brother, father, grandfather and all together a great man. He valued family dearly and would do anything for them. He enjoyed visiting with family and looked forward to trips up North and family beach trips when they would come visit here.
Ennio will be loved and missed dearly by everyone his life touched. Forever in our hearts and never forgotten. His memory lives on.
The family will receive friends from 10:00am to 11:00 am on Friday, January 9, 2026 at Hanes Lineberry Funeral Home in Greensboro, NC followed by the service. Interment will follow in Westminster Gardens.
