Obituary of Erline King Mize

Erline Mize, age 87, passed away peacefully at her home on November 2, 2025. Born in Mt. Airy, N.C., she was the daughter of Earl King and Mary Lucille Davis. After graduating from White Plains High School, she attended Guilford College. While in college she met the love of her life, Randy Mize. They were married on December 7, 1958, and enjoyed 65 years of marriage.

Erline had a successful career in the banking industry with First Home Federal and Triad Bank, working her way up from teller to Senior Vice President and Director of Human Resources. She and Randy enjoyed traveling, together they traveled the world and road tripped across the United States. After retirement, they moved to Oak Island, where they were active members of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church and the community. In 2021, she and Randy moved back to Greensboro to be closer to family.

Erline was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Randy, and her parents. She is survived by her children, Rowdy Mize (Allison) and Yvonne Smiley; and her grandchildren, Stuart Mize (Julianna), Caroline Targonski (Blake), Emma Mize, and Alexander Mize.

Her family will cherish her memory and remember her kind nature to all people. The family would like to thank those who helped with her care, especially Abbotswood Senior Living Community, Griswold Home Care, and AuthoraCare Collective.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to AuthoraCare Collective 2500 Summit Avenue, Greensboro, NC 27405. The family is having a private celebration of life at Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home on November 23, 2025.
