A service to celebrate her life is planned for October 29, 2010 at 5:30 pm at First Presbyterian Church, Greensboro.
She was born on October 29, 1920 in New Bern, North Carolina. She is survived by her two sons and their families: Claud P. “Kirk” Kirkman III of Greensboro, and J. Richard Kirkman and Patricia Gray of Jamestown; grandson, Patrick Kirkman, wife Amy, and great granddaughter, Taylor. She is preceded in death by husbands Claud P. Kirkman Jr, and Robert F. Anderson; sister Katherine Sparrow Jones; and brother, Richard Donald Sparrow.
Mrs. Anderson was an executive administrator for the U.S. Selective Service at the High Point office from1955-1960; at the North Carolina state office 1960-1963; and at the Greensboro office from 1963-1975. She graduated from Montreat College in 1940.
She was a devoted wife and mother who enjoyed gardening, hiking, ballroom dancing, and her cats, Sugar and Splenda. She was a long time member of First Presbyterian Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Humane Society of Guilford County, 4527 West Wendover Avenue, Greensboro, North Carolina
