

Eunice Brass Beavers, 101 of Greensboro, passed away peacefully at Friends Homes Guilford, January 25, 2022. Eunice was born on July 8, 1920, in Helena Montana to Julius Herman Brass and Florence Guthrie Brass of Lewis and Clark County. She graduated from Rock Island High School, IL in 1939.
After completing Moline Public Hospital Training School for Nurses in 1942, Eunice worked as a registered nurse in Chicago, IL. She married William Olive Beavers in Chicago on April 10, 1943. Eunice worked in Durham, NC, at Duke University Hospital and raised her young son while her husband served as a physician in the United States Navy in the Pacific during WWII.
Eunice was a resident of Greensboro and Guilford County for 75 years and a member of First Baptist Church. Eunice’s energy was spent on her family and the importance of God and the church community. She was involved in the Woman’s Missionary Union, garden clubs and Bible study groups. Music was important to Eunice and she encouraged her children to perform musical instruments. After her child rearing years, Eunice found enjoyment n traveling to Europe, Israel and the Middle East. She was a steadying influence for her family. She will be greatly missed.
In addition to parents, Eunice was preceded in death by her husband, William Olive Beavers; brother, Julius Phillip Brass and her sister, Margaret Marie Brass. Eunice is survived by her five children, Richard Beavers and wife, Sharon, of Greensboro, Carolyn Howell and husband, Griffith, of Goldsboro, Clyde Beavers, of Lexington, KY, Dwight Beavers and wife, Sharon, of Summerville, SC, Gary Beavers and wife, Kristie, of Morrisville; nine grandchildren, Debran McClean, Elizabeth Donehue (Wesley), Kristen Haynes (Jimmy), Erin Pate (James), Bradford Beavers (Melia), Jordan Beavers (Alexandra), Garrison Beavers, Ashley Smith (Brandon), Cameron Howell and 13
great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 7, 2022 at 3:30 p.m. in the chapel of First Baptist Church, 1000 West Friendly Avenue, Greensboro. Following the service, the family and friends will gather at the home of Dr. and Mrs. Richard Beavers.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the George M. and Daisy O. Beavers Scholarship at Wake Forest University, PO Box 7227, Winston Salem, NC 27109, Attention: Gift Administration or to any charity of choice.
