The life of Eva Barham Dixon will be celebrated on Friday, November 19, 2020 at 11:30 AM at Dayspring Church in Greensboro. Her family will receive guests beginning at 10:30 AM, prior to the service at the church. Eva’s nephew Reverend Randy Foster will officiate and burial will follow at Lakeview Memorial Park.
She was born to the late John Grady and Eliza Tilley Barham in Guilford County and passed away on November 13 at the age of 88. Immediately following graduation from Grimsley High School she began employment for ten years as a seamstress at Blue Bell and enjoyed serving as pitcher on the company soft ball team. She was the wife of James Roosevelt Dixon and mother to three girls for whom she provided a loving Christian home during the girl’s youths and then returned to the outside workforce in 1967 as a clerk for Southern Bell and retired in 1982. She and James were faithful founding members of Dayspring Church. Eva was a prayer warrior who loved her family and will be remembered as a sweet and caring woman who supported numerous charitable organizations. She loved to watch soap operas, westerns and Fox News and always cheered for the Braves and Carolina basketball.
She is survived by her daughters, Gay Crouse of Gibsonville and Tami (William) Smith of Randleman; grandchildren, Ken Crouse, Jr., Allen Crouse, Heather Smith, Scott Smith, Brittany Smith and Steven Kennedy; great grandchildren, Jonah Crouse, Ryan Jarrett, Rosy Crouse, Cory Tanner and Tyler Tanner; son-in-law, Richard Kennedy of Greensboro; sister, Rachel Bovender of Greensboro; brother, John (Martha) Barham of Hurdle Mills; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding Eva in death are her husband, daughter Lori Kennedy, brother Charles and his wife Benny, sister Lois Foster and husband Hugh, son-in-law Ken Crouse, Sr., and brother-in-law Paul Bovender.
