Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, January 5, 2012, at True Light Baptist Church, with Rev. Greg Cassidy officiating, and Deacon Don Sizemore will be assisting. Burial will follow at Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery.
Born in Rockingham County to the late Robert and Ella Payne, Eva was a long-time member of True Light Baptist Church. Eva was a lady of elegance and style, who enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. She took great pride in being a hardworking homemaker. She was a devoted, caring, and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She loved her church and her church family and always unselfishly made herself available to anyone in need. For a few years Eva worked for Cone Mills, where her late husband, Earl, was employed for fifty years. In addition to her parents and husband, Eva was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Cox; a step-son Eddie Brady, sisters, Essie, Emma, and Elma; and brothers, Edgar, Everett, and Ezra.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Cheryl Dianne Crawford and her husband Thomas M. Crawford, Jr. of Pleasant Garden; step-son, Gary R. Brady and his wife Debbie of Florida; sister, Ethel King of Pleasant Garden; special friend, Louise (wife of the late Eddie Brady);son-in-law, Rudolph Cox (husband of the late Linda Cox); special niece, Vivian Welch of Greensboro; grandchildren, Anita Gillette and her husband Mike, Cassie Sawyer, Shellie Beane and her husband Brian, Darin Cox, Kevin Cox and his wife Paula, Ashley Blanchard and her husband Jason, Serena Haga and her husband Todd, Kris Rogers, Scott Brady, Philip Brady, and Lora Brady; 18 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Eva’s primary care physician, Dr. William Hopper of LeBauer Health Care Systems and to Dr. Peter Ennever of Cone Cancer Center in High Point. The family would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Theresa Griffin and Ann Batten of the Southeast Hospice Team.
The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 pm Wednesday evening, January 4, 2012, at Hanes-Lineberry Vanstory Chapel, and other times at the home of Dianne and Tommy Crawford, and Ethel King.
