Eva M. Mathis Lewis

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, February 29, 2012, at Hanes-Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel, with Pastor Daniel Pittman officiating. Burial will follow at Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mrs. Lewis was born in Chattanooga, TN, to the late Harry and Bertie Mathis. She was a member of Parkwood Baptist Church and taught adult Sunday School. Eva was an avid Atlanta Braves baseball fan, enjoyed cooking, and loved music. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who enjoyed nothing more than spending time with her immediate family and church family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband James W. Lewis and her three sons, Douglas, Donald, and Mark Lewis.

Those left to cherish her memory include her grandchildren, Michelle Lewis, Brian Lewis (Kim), Anita Russell (Clay), Nancy Lewis (Ashley), Michael Lewis, Danielle Wafford (Chris) and Lorri Horne (Brian); daughter-in-law, Barbara Lewis; sister-in-law Alma Davis; and 9 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 pm Tuesday evening, February 28, 2012, at the funeral home.
