

Greensboro- Evelyn Hill Anderson, 93, died February 13, 2014 at Whitestone Masonic and Eastern Star Home. A celebration of her life will be at 11 AM on Monday, February 17 in the Whitestone chapel with Chaplain Tommy Jones officiating. Interment will be in Clarkesville, GA at a later date. The family will receive friends following the service.
She was born in Clarkesville, GA. to the late Alice Taylor and Henry Hill. Evelyn was salutatorian of her high school class, and her brightness was complemented by her ever-present smile and sparkling laugh. She was married to Thomas E. Anderson and after his service in World War II ended, they moved to Greensboro, NC. Evelyn worked as an executive secretary at Wachovia Bank and outside of work enjoyed doting on their dogs and tending to their large garden - farm to table was in full swing on Rolling Road from the 50’s until the Andersons moved into the Masonic Home in the late 90’s. Evelyn was a member of The First Baptist Church and also Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by her husband and her younger brother, Ross Henry Hill. She is survived by her niece, Susan Hill Bennett and her husband Taylor and son Sam of Decatur, GA.
Her family would like to thank the staff of Whitestone and her many friends there for the care and company they provided Evelyn during her residency. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions to Alzheimer’s Association Western Carolina Chapter, 3800 Shamrock Drive, Charlotte, NC 28215-3220, are appreciated. Hanes-Lineberry N.
