Evelyn Scott Steed

Mrs. Evelyn Scott Steed, 97, a resident of Greensboro passed away on Wednesday January 3, 2018 at Wesley Long Hospital. Mrs. Steed was born September 21, 1920 in Franklin, the daughter of Claude Oren and Jane Reid Scott.

Evelyn was retired from Belk Department store starting when it was in downtown Greensboro. She filled many roles in different departments over the years.

She was married for 67 years to Sidney Lee Steed who preceded her in death on June 1, 2007. She was also preceded in death by her parents and her three brothers, Harold, Eugene and Paul Scott.

Evelyn is survived by her daughter, Martha Steed Pulliam of Rock Hill, SC; two sons, David Lee Steed and fiance’ Cyndi Beach of Randleman, J. Michael Steed of Greensboro; one sister, Jennie Scott Marsh of Greensboro; three grandchildren, Carla Gibson-Detering and husband Alan, Travis Steed, Sarah Caulder and husband Sean; three great grandchildren, Ariella Gibson, Adam Gibson and Noah Caulder and a very close and dear friend, Betty Tucker of Greensboro.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday at the Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel conducted by Reverend Michael Barrett. Entombment will follow in Guilford Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends at the Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel on Sunday from 4:00 p.m. until 5:30 p.m.

The family has requested that no flowers be sent but instead memorials be made in Evelyn’s memory to Greensboro Urban Ministry, 305 West Gate City Blvd., Greensboro, NC 27406
