
Fay Millican Reid died on Monday, July 1, 2024. She was born in Greensboro on December 8, 1930. She was the daughter of the late Evelyn Goswick and Hansel Brady Millican. She loved the city of Greensboro and lived here her entire life. She attended Greensboro High School and graduated from Sullins Academy in Bristol, Va. Following graduation she attended UNC-Greensboro. Fay was a life-time member of First Presbyterian Church.
Fay married James William Berry Reid Jr. on March 7, 1953 and they had a wonderful life together for 70 years.
Fay was an active member of her community throughout her life. She generously donated her time to the Junior League, led Brownie troops and made her many friends happy by popping popcorn for them to enjoy while working. She helped many brides order wedding invitations and bride bags during her years at Paper Perfect Stationers and loved every moment of her time there. She enjoyed playing tennis and doing yoga and loved any kind of card game. She was always up for a game of Bridge or, more recently Hand and Foot and Samba. Her bright spirit and cheerful disposition could always make people smile and she was loved by both family and friends alike.
Fay was preceded in death by her husband, Berry, her parents, Evelyn and Hank Millican and her brother Hank Millican, Jr.. She is survived by her daughters, Molly Millican Reid ( Ronnie) of Greensboro NC, Farish Reid Neil ( Scott) of Raleigh, NC; grandchildren, Kathryn Farish Neil of Raleigh, NC, Devin Morrell Neil ( Sara) and Elizabeth Reid Neil- Allan ( Gregory) of Charlotte, NC, and a great grandson, James Wilson Neil.
The family will hold a private graveside burial at The First Presbyterian Church Columbarium at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital at www.stjude.org.
