

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 23, 2017 at 1:30 p.m. at Saint John’s United Methodist Church with Rev. Phyllis Coates officiating. Interment will follow at Guilford Memorial Park. The family will visit with friends prior to the service beginning at 12:00 p.m.
Darrell was born in High Point, NC to the late Oscar Floyd and Gladys Yarborough Vuncannon. He attended High Point College and graduated from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. He was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity. He was a US Navy Veteran, Lt. J.G.
Darrell worked at Pfizer and then retired as plant manager from High Point Chemical Company. Following his retirement he worked as a consultant.
Darrell was a member of Saint John’s United Methodist Church, where he has served as the Lay Leader, member of the United Methodist Men, Youth Leader, Chairman of the Staff Pastor Parish Relations Committee and Scout Master,Troop 326.
He loved deep sea fishing, family and all things “Carolina”.
He was predeceased by his parents; daughter, Mary Ann Vuncannon; grandson, Colin Burnette, and sister, Gerry Hill. Darrell is survived by his wife of sixty-two years, Jo Ann Kerr Vuncannon; children, Vicky Floss (Randy) of Oak Ridge, NC, Michael Vuncannon of Greensboro, Sandy Manuel (Steve) of Tampa, FL, Cheryl Burnette (Scott) of Jamestown, NC and Patti Bare (Michael) of Charlotte, NC; grandchildren, Maggie, Mike, Branden, Taylor, Cydney, Maddy, Hannah, Jordan, and Cameron; great grandchildren, Ian, Sophie, Emalie and Benjamin; and his beloved dog, Alex.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Saint John’s United Methodist Church, 1304 Merritt Drive Greensboro, NC 27407 or to the Parkinson Foundation 5969 Cattleridge Blvd Ste 100, Sarasota, FL 34232 in memory of Floyd Darrell Vuncannon.
