

Mrs. Collier was born December 8, 1937, in the Union Chapel Community of Robeson County, NC. She was the second oldest of 10 children born to the late Willard and Pearlie Mae Emanuel Locklear. Mrs. Collier moved to Greensboro in 1956 and married Albert Derwood Collier in 1957. They were married for 61 years. She was a longtime member of Aycock Fellowship Ministries in Greensboro. Her faith and love for Christ thrived there and she always enjoyed the services and fellowship with her church members. She retired from Richardson-Vick, Inc. (currently Proctor & Gamble) after 37 years and in her spare time enjoyed gardening and family activities.
She is survived by her five children: Hardy D. Collier of Greensboro, Kevin R. Collier (Eva) of Liberty, NC, Donald G. Collier, and Ronald L. Collier (Kerri), all of Greensboro and Leah Michelle Tyson (Wes) of Charlotte, NC. She is further survived by eight grandchildren: Daniel Collier (Jill) of Exeter RI, Joshua Mottram (Monica) of Pleasant Garden, NC, Leah Tyson of Charlotte, NC, Will Tyson of Charleston, SC, Samuel Collier (Sydney) of Summerfield, NC, , Dr. Nicholas Collier of Statesville, NC, Jake Collier of Liberty, NC, Zach Collier of Summerfield, NC; four great-grandchildren: Amelia Collier of Exeter, RI, Janey Collier of Pleasant Garden, NC, Caiden Collier of Summerfield, NC and Charlotte Collier of Summerfield, NC. She is also survived by five siblings: sisters, Maxine Oxendine (Brantley) and Charity Revels (Ronnie) of Pembroke and brothers, Cooledge Locklear (Dorothy) of Pembroke, Dr. Jim Locklear (Joann) of Raleigh and Dwayne Locklear (Sharon) of Lumberton. She shared a special bond with a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by four siblings: Ruth Locklear Revels (Lonnie), Jessie Locklear (Mary Helen), Bradley Locklear (Paulette) and George Locklear (Rose).
The family would like to extend sincere gratitude to Dr. Gary Brad Sherrill (Oncologist) and his staff at Cone Health Cancer Center at Drawbridge Parkway, Greensboro NC and to Dr. Jimmy Locklear (Interventional Cardiologist), Raleigh NC for their devoted and compassionate care for Mrs. Collier, as well as her caregivers Marie Murray of Greensboro, NC, Sharon Kenney of Easley, SC and Melody Crawford of Summerfield, NC.
Funeral Services celebrating Mrs. Collier's life will be held at 12:30 p.m., July 2, 2026, at Aycock Fellowship Ministries, 1036 S. Josephine Boyd St., Greensboro, NC 27403. The family will receive friends at the church from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., prior to the service. Burial will immediately follow the funeral services at Westminster Gardens Cemetery, 3601 Whitehurst Road, Greensboro, NC 27410.
