

A memorial service be held on Sunday, April 26, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Hanes-Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel, 6000 West Gate City Boulevard, Greensboro, NC, with Dr. Richard Booker officiating. The family will receive friends for a time of fellowship following the service.
Frank was the son of the late Lewis Leamon and Louise Arminta Harrell James and was also preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Lorraine James; daughters, Tina Perkins and Lisa Benson; and sister, Shirley Long.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, daughter, Sharon Robbins; sons, Frank “Frankie” James, Jr. (Wendy) and Chris James (Sara); grandchildren, Erica Phillips (Stephen), Mackenzie James, Caiden James, Jessica James, Jennifer McBee, James Benson, Jr., Taylor Jones, and Laura Mangum; and a host of great-grandchildren including Morgan James.
Frank was a very active person; he enjoyed weightlifting and karate and even earned his third-degree black belt. In his free time, when he was able, he loved riding his bicycle on trails. History was one of his many interests, especially German history and World War II. He enjoyed reading and doing crossword puzzles, and he was an avid fan of wrestling as well as old westerns. He was also a Virginia Cavaliers fan. Frank loved his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren dearly.
