Mr. Fred Alfred Rumley, 87, a resident of Greensboro, passed away on Friday, May 4, 2018, at the Hospice Home at High Point. He was born March 14, 1931, in Winston-Salem, the son of Julius Pearson and Letha Rebecca Sink Rumley.
Fred was a graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill and was an accountant with Western Electric & Lucent Technologies. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
He is preceded in death by his parents; 1st wife Martha (Toni) Wray Rumley; a sister, Joan Rumley; his brother, James Pearson Rumley; brother-in-law, Joe Paul and a nephew, James Bruce Rumley.
Fred is survived by his wife, Barbara Elaine Rumley and their Goldendoodle, Baylie; his sister, Ruby Rebecca Paul of Charlotte; niece, Susie Kornegay and husband Russ of Charlotte; and nephew, David Paul and wife Tracey of Newton; sisters-in-law, B.J. (Betty Jo) Stephens and husband Jeff of Ocean Isle Beach; Pam Harris and husband Curtis of Forest, VA; Heather Hartsook and husband Matt of Lynchburg, VA; Cassie Theiden and husband John of Hayes, KS; brothers-in-law, Wayne (Rexx) Rexrode and wife Marsha of Salisbury; Earl (Rexy) Rexrode of Charlottesville, VA; nieces, Nichola (Nikki) Dow and husband Dustin of Concord; Hannah Hartsook of Lynchburg, VA; nephews, Alex Hartsook of Lynchburg, VA; Tracy Rexrode and Julius Reid of Charlotte.
There will be a gathering of Family and Friends on Saturday, May 12, 2018, from 1:00 until 3:00 PM, at the Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel, 6000 West Gate City Blvd., Greensboro, NC.
The family requests memorials be made in Fred’s memory to the Hospice Home at High Point, 1801 Westchester Drive, High Point, NC 27262.
