George Walker Rodgers, 79, a resident of Greensboro passed away on Sunday, May 5, 2019. He was born January 14, 1940 in Siler City. George was a graduate of Brown Summit High School, class of 1959 and was a graduate of Croft College in Greensboro. He retired from J.D. Wilkins Co. in Greensboro. George was a veteran serving in the U.S. Army and was of the Methodist faith. He was preceded in death by his mother, Tenner Mae Rodgers Gilmer. He is survived by his wife, Mae Elizabeth Siddle Rodgers of the home; son, Eric Rodgers and wife Marie of Greensboro; grandsons, Quinton Taylor, Eric Rodgers, Jr.; daughter, Wendy Rodgers of Greensboro; brother, Evander Gilmer, Jr. of Chicago, IL and sister-in-laws, Gladys G. Rawls of Greensboro and Alyce Baldwin of High Point. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 pm Friday at the Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel, 6000 West Gate City Blvd. Greensboro, NC 27407 conducted by the Reverend Marcia Isley, Pastor of St. James AME Church in Oak Ridge. Interment with Military Honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard will follow in Guilford Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 11:30 am until service time.

Biography

George Walker Rodgers, 79, a resident of Greensboro passed away on Sunday, May 5, 2019. He was born January 14, 1940 in Siler City.
George was a graduate of Brown Summit High School, class of 1959 and was a graduate of Croft College in Greensboro. He retired from J.D. Wilkins Co. in Greensboro. George was a veteran serving in the U.S. Army and was of the Methodist faith.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Tenner Mae Rodgers Gilmer.
He is survived by his wife, Mae Elizabeth Siddle Rodgers of the home; son, Eric Rodgers and wife Marie of Greensboro; grandsons, Quinton Taylor, Eric Rodgers, Jr.; daughter, Wendy Rodgers of Greensboro; brother, Evander Gilmer, Jr. of Chicago, IL and sister-in-laws, Gladys G.
