

Mr. George Lynch Tucker, 79, a resident of Greensboro died Sunday November, 28, 2010 at Wesley Long Hospital. Mr. Tucker was born December 19, 1930 in Greensboro a son of the late Paul and Julia Lynch Tucker. Mr. Tucker was also preceded in death by a sister, Martha Ann Lewis; step-father Guy Edgar Newsome and his friend Nora Wolfe. He was retired from Duke Power Co. after 35 years where he was a lineman. Mr. Tucker was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps serving in the Korean War. He was stationed at Camp LeJeune and at Cherry Point. He was awarded the Presidential Unit Citation with Star, the Korean Service Medal with Six Stars, the United Nations Service Medal and the Good Conducte Medal. Mr. Tucker was a Life Member of VFW Post #2087, a member of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter # 20, American Legion Post # 0053, a member of the Greensboro Moose Lodge # 685, a Life Member of the Legion of the Moose and received the Pilgrim Degree from the Loyal Order of the Moose.
Surviving is his sister, Betty Tucker DeGraff and husband Harold of Reidsville and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday at 3:00 p. m. at Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the Randolph County Honor Guard. Mr. Tucker will remain at Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel, 6000 High Point Road, Greensboro, NC 27407.
